Founded in 1999 and named after proprietor Launny Steffens’ life and background in the world of finance with a theme encompassed by numerics, and a keen interest in numerology — “seven” being a number of luck in western culture, while “eight” follows the meanings of prosperity and happiness in eastern culture — Vineyard 7 & 8 is the culmination of the family’s pursuit for producing fine wines including Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is ready to be enjoyed right from the start, with a wealth of complex aromatics sure to please Cabernet aficionados. Nuances of black currant, black cherry, menthol, white pepper, cherry liqueur and raw tobacco on the nose. The wine is bright, exuding both power and restraint. On the palate the wine does not disappoint, showing black pepper, black cherry and boysenberry, fresh ground dark roast coffee, and our signature savory notes. The tannins are powerful, yet well‐integrated, finishing very long. This is quite possibly our finest wine to date. A nuanced and seductive wine that will show very well with a quick decant upon release, and will age beautifully for 15‐20+ years.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of stewed black and red plums, Black Forest cake and crème de cassis, plus nuances of cedar chest, tar and unsmoked cigars. The full-bodied palate is densely packed with ripe, seductive black fruit preserves layers, with loads of savory accents and a firm, grainy texture, finishing long with a spicy kick. 785 cases are due to be made. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)

Cellar Selection This beautiful 100% varietal wine from the high-elevation estate is partially barrel-fermented and shows sophisticated tannin management and texture. Bay leaf, sage and cedar accent a full-bodied and concentrated core of complex red currant and cassis, with a girth of toasted oak, tobacco and cigar box playing secondary parts. Enjoy best from 2028 through 2038.

Rich and very vivid, with a beautiful array of plum, blackberry and boysenberry confiture flavors that stream through, carried by a racy graphite spine as notes of apple wood, anise, black tea and violet check in through the finish. Features a great tug of earth at the end. Best from 2024 through 2040. 785 cases made.
