Good news: In 2015 we had a unique opportunity to purchase a few tons of Barbera from Diamond Mountain. Bad news: Those grapes were only available in 2015 and a tiny amount in 2016. But it was fun while it lasted, and the resulting wine, though a departure for us, is such a treat. Chocolate, roses and fig on the nose, with a suggestion of violet. The classic Barbera acidity is there, but the edges are mellow and the core is focused. The mid-palate is all licorice and cherry, and the mouthfeel is rich with well-integrated tannins. This is a beautiful one-time wine for us (a barrel's worth of 2016 will be available in a future Secret Stash offer) and we are all swooning over the label.
