Well balanced with a beautiful dark red color. The nose is reserved, but already has good depth and complexity. The wood is well integrated under the characteristic notes of fresh red fruit, dominated by blackcurrants. On the palate, the attack is robust and dense, with the wine developing lots of volume and a good presence of fruit. Good length with elegant, fresh style. The tannins, although still young, are silky. Opening up in four to five years, and peaking between 2020 and 2030.

This is a structured wine that still has serious layers of ripe fruit and rich tannins. The black currant from the Cabernet Sauvignon is balanced by the jammy richness of the delicious Merlot. It's an impressive wine that continues the progress of this estate, owned by Lafite-Rothschild. Drink from 2024.

The 2014 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild is clearly a level up in quality compared to the Moulin de Duhart this year, with ample blackberry and cedar scents on the nose. As I observed from barrel, it is less austere than previous vintages of Duhart. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of blackberry laced with tobacco, Chinese five spice and just a faint hint of dark chocolate right on the finish. It should drink well over the next 12-15 years.
