Petit-Figeac is made with all the skill of the Chateau-Figeac team. Lighter and less full-bodied than its senior, with beautiful length on the palate, a highly refined texture and a great capacity to seduce, it shows its appeal earlier. Petit-Figeac offers an ideal introduction to the spirit of the estate.

Barrel Sample. The third vintage of this second wine from Château Figeac is gently integrated with fresh fruit and acidity. Dusty tannins give mild structure to the wine.

A juicy and fresh wine with blackberry and mineral character. Full and silky with delicious fruit, wet earth and stone character. Excellent second wine. This is really interesting because there is 44% cabernet sauvignon with the rest being cabernet franc and a little merlot.

An alluring nose of smoldering tobacco gives way to a somewhat modest core of plum and black cherry fruit. A light thread of warm stones on the finish imparts a nice tug of terroir. Best from 2018 through 2022. 3,335 cases made.

The 2014 Le Petit Figeac has an almost identical bouquet to the 2013, although there is a subtle floral aspect that develops with time - rose petals and iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with more fruité than the 2013. Fine depth and quite rounded in style with a lightly spiced finish.

The 2014 Petit Figeac was showing quite deep in color. The nose was broody at first, opening with dark berry fruit interlaced with undergrowth and scents of stewed black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannin. It is nicely balanced, but not a complex Deuxième Vin and it seems a little rustic compared to the Grand Vin that has more "sheen" compared to older vintages. I appreciate the salinity on the aftertaste, but the bottom line is this Petit Figeac will be best consumed over the next three or four years.
