The 2017 Blackboard Red begins with a pleasing nose with classic dark fruits-plum and blackberry-before showing mocha tones and dusty flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is balanced with gripping tannins and notes of bitter dark chocolates and tart cherries across the mid-palate, ending with a lingering finish of plum skin. 3625 cases were produced.

Good dark red. Slightly tanky scents of dark berries and licorice accented by black pepper. Supple and sweet in the mouth, offering lovely relaxed fruit for twenty bucks. No shortage of tannins on the dusty finish but they're nicely buffered by the wine's sweet fruit. This is a separate label made by Matthews Winery. (made mostly in stainless steel and aged in French oak, barely 10% of it new)
