Chateau Batailley Pauillac 1970
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pauillac|
Garnet-colored, with a cedar and black truffle nose and firm, ripe cassis flavor; lively, with much vigor, and close to its peak. Very appealing. Reviewed: 5/15/93.
In many respects, this wine typifies Batailley and the style of wine so often produced there--dark ruby, with a bouquet that offers ripe fruit, some mild oaky notes, but not much complexity. On the palate, the wine is chunky and fleshy, with good concentration, firm tannins, and a monolithic personality. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 6/87. Reviewed: 12/31/97.
