Phantom, Bogle's mysterious apparition of ripe berry and relentless spice, returns to haunt wine lovers. Full of concentration and intensity, this wine will tease, tantalize and linger long after the last sip is gone. Wild berries, black pepper and hints of juniper are framed by the influence of oak aging with baking spices with a hint of toasty vanilla. On the palate, the entry is explosive, supported by chewy, chalky tannins that will age this wine for decades. The lingering, complex finish leaves one in anticipation of the next sip. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this latest vintage…before it vanishes again.
Château Latour Pauillac 1988 6L BottleThe Grand Vin displays concentrated aromas of coffee, liquorice and truffle, even if its color is still dark rubis. The mouth is very structured, elegant and very concentrated, with a long back-bone of tannins and a persistent finish.
Château d'Yquem Sauternes 1988 3L BottleWinter: Winter 1987-1988 was very mild and wet. Spring: The rain continued and even caused flooding. Summer: From mid-June onwards, the rain gave way to droughtlike conditions which lasted several months. Flowering occurred under very good conditions, which lasted for the rest of the growing season. The grapes were ripe by September 25th. Early September was very hot, preventing botrytis from developing fully. The first wave of picking started on September 29th and finished two days later. The intense heat meant that the second wave was delayed until October 17th, and finished on October 22nd. Although the weather was not very conducive to the spread of botrytis, the grapes quickly became very rich and concentrated. The third wave started on October 24th and finished on the 29th. The number of grapes was very high. The fourth wave of picking started on November 2nd, and combined both quantity and quality (the amount of grapes harvested daily nearly broke all previous records). Even though the following two waves (the first lasting from November 7-10 and the second from November 14-16) took place quite late, they enabled us to pick perfectly ripe, botrytised grapes. This was indeed an excellent end to the 1988 vintage at Chateau d'Yquem. 1988 was a very unusual year in that the dry weather could have caused botrytis to develop very slowly. However, noble rot developed uniformly and consistently, so that grapes from all six waves were of very high quality. TASTING NOTES BY THE YQUEM TEAM Brilliant golden colour with orange highlights. Bouquet initially waxy, followed by strong floral hints. Altogether elegant, although slightly closed and discreet at this stage. Very silky on the palate. Round, but with good acidity. Very soft and well-balanced. Very elegant, with a fairly strong taste of dried apricot. Impressively long aftertaste.
Château Margaux Margaux 1988 6L BottleThe very deep colour, the rich, intense nose and the magnificent structure on the palate are very reminiscent of the 1986. They have the same powerful, ripe tannins, with perhaps a little less concentration, but also less austerity. Unlike 1986, in fact, 1988 is starting to open out; we can therefore drink it, knowing full well that it will continue to improve for several years -seven or eight at least.
Sine Qua Non Patine mag Box Set 1 Grenache 1 Syrah 2011 1.5L BottleSine Qua Non has its own winemaking facility in Ventura, not far from the Santa Barbara vineyards where the fruit is sourced from the region's best vineyards. In the last few years Elaine and Manfred have begun creating their own vineyards dedicated to Rhone varietals and now their Cumulus and Eleven Confessions estate vineyards are contributing the majority of the fruit for their wines. Their winemaking philosophy is to work in very small batches, gravity flow, natural yeasts (unless a fermentation problem is anticipated), long lees aging for the whites and repeated racking for the reds to open them up. This is a simplified explanation of a very dedicated and artistic approach to winemaking. The wines are at once very rich and elegant, superbly balanced and thoroughly harmonious with food, never overwhelming. Gift Set includes one magnum Syrah, and one magnum Grenache.
Ramey Woolsey Road Vineyard Chardonnay 2013Coming from special vineyard sites, our Chardonnays show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. Typically, the climate is cool and the soil vigor low, producing graceful yet vibrant wines. This is our second bottling from this new site.
Bogle Merlot 2014Dark rubies sparkle in the glass, enticing with first impressions of sweet summer herbs and hints of anise. Quickly followed by a burst of Bing cherry, the entry is full of rich, dense red fruits. Smooth and silky in texture, yet with a full mouthfeel, notes of baking spices and vanilla mocha envelope the fruit. One year of aging in American oak barrels leaves behind polished tannins and a lingering finish.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon 2014This ARTEMIS Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of black cherry, currants, berries and a hint of sweet oak. On the palate, the wine offers full fruit flavors and a silky texture that leads to a long, lingering finish with hints of red and black fruit. Enjoy this Cabernet Sauvignon with Memphis-style dry rub pork or beef ribs, grilled tri-tip, or polenta with wild mushrooms, sage and prosciutto.
Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling 2015Yet another terrific vintage. Pure, focused and mouthwatering. Citrus blossom, lime leaf, white peach intermingle with mineral that fills the palate. Carries on to a long refreshing finish. Food Pairings: Thai or Chinese food, five spice pork or duck, fresh seafood.
Justin Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Appearance: Dark ruby purple core lightening to medium intensity at the rim with moderate staining on the glass. Aroma: Aromatic black fruit of cherry and blackcurrant jam, baking spice, dried leaf and sweet tobacco. Palate: Full bodied with bright black cherry, blackcurrant and berry fruit with an underpinning of oak barrel accents on entry. The mid palate shows continued fruit with savory herbal notes, mint and a hint of violet. The finish is clean, long and layered with lingering dark fruit surrounded by soft chewy tannins balanced by crisp acidity and subtle floral notes. Pairings: The 2014 JUSTIN Cabernet Sauvignon is a versatile red wine that pairs well with most red wine friendly dishes and a little more. As good with pasta and burgers as it is with beef wellington or entrecote bordelaise, this is a wine with broad pairing possibilities for both dishes and palates.
Layer Cake Shiraz 2014The aromas of cocoa, warm spice and dark fruit are very powerful from the first whiff. In the mouth, the wine is layered with rich blackberry, dark cherries and hints of dark, creamy chocolate ganache. The finish lingers on, hanging on your palette while the fruit and spice flavors slowly change and fade. This vintage is classic Layer Cake Shiraz in all its glory.
Saxum Paderewski Vineyard 2010Our second Paderewski bottling is firing on all cylinders. I backed off on the Syrah and used a lot more Mourvedre, and added a new component, Tempranillo. Yes I know, we are crazy! It's a Zinfandel / Mourvedre / Tempranillo / Syrah / Petite Sirah blend, and it shows its terrior beautifully. What you get from this wine is a taste of the Paderewski Vineyard. It is dark, brooding and muscular, while at the same time jam packed with tons of sweet fruits. There's even a spicy tannic side lurking in there, underneath those fruit flavors. Thanks to the cool, long growing season, it has a wonderful freshness and purity to it combined with great underlying tannins.
Cherry Pie Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir 2013A very showy wine - bright red in color. A swirl grips the glass and leaving a magenta stain. On the nose, fruit pours out of the glass immediately. Cherry liqeur, raspberry and camphor - there's even little French Toast in the background. Bright acidity wraps the red fruits and black cherry on the palate. The tannins are youthful. A purists Pinot Noir.

Chateau les Rouilleres Bordeaux 2015This wine has cherry color of a medium intensity. It is aromatic with notes of red fruits and spices. The tannis are supple and the wine is fine and balanced. A spectacular Bordeaux from the much heralded 2009 vintage with a level of complexity that far exceeds its humble price point. Goes great with grilled meats and cheese. Featured in TheTimesWeekly.com as Wine of the Week 9/23/14: "This is an exceptional Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet and Cabernet Franc that truly delivers a delicate blend of ripe red fruit and creamy vanilla spice from oak aging that makes it the perfect accompaniment for an elegant meal of steak, lamb or turkey, pheasant or a roasted rosemary chicken."
Layer Cake Garnacha 2011Our Layer Cake Garnacha from Calatayud, Spain is rich and powerful, yet clean and balanced. Layered with aromas of ultra ripe black fruit. On the palate, the wine shows intense dark fruit with a background of rich dark chocolate and fresh ground coffee with a long creamy finish. The intensity of flavor from these ancient vines is beautifully offset by the great freshness from the high-altitude vineyards; the Layer Cake Garnacha is not to be overlooked.
Château Troplong Mondot Saint Emilion 2008The wine is a real surprise, considering the tricky weather conditions. It displays a power and depth worthy of the greatest Bordeaux vintages. Traditional viticulture combined with an environmentally-friendly approach (no weedkillers, chemical fertilizers or pesticides). Ploughing, Cordeau bordelaise pruning (leaving two canes). De-budding in the spring. De-leafing in July then crop thinning to enhance optimal ripening of the grapes. Hand-picking with harvesting dates bases on 3 criteria: ripeness checks, tasting of berries, differences between the estate's various "terroirs"
Sloan Asterisk Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Argiano Non Confunditur 2012NC is a wine with a decisive, full-bodied character, smooth tannins and a persistent finish. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah andSangiovese reveals an exciting potency, with the innate gentleness of Merlot creating a bridge between the evident earthiness of Sangiovese, the aromatic blackcurrant flavour of Cabernet and the warm red berries of Syrah. The result is a generous, rounded red wine, destined for short to medium ageing, with delicious aromas of currants and generous fruit flavours, versatile enough to develop in greater depth during long months in the bottle.

Saxum Booker Vineyard 2010 1.5LOwned by Eric and Lisa Jensen, the Booker Vineyard is extremely steep and rocky with a mix of calcareous and silicious soils. We lease 2 acres of East facing Syrah that produce extremely concentrated fruit with great acidity, 1 acre of a North West face that we ferment whole cluster to produce a black tannic wine with great texture, and 1 acre of Mourvedre on a South slope that gives wonderful intensity and structure. The resulting blend is very concentrated, with great texture and tons of fruit and spice. We age it for 20-26 months mainly in new 350 Liter French hogshead barrels with extra thick staves. Our wines are never racked off their lees and are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
August Briggs Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2011Our Russian River Pinot Noir can be described as our 'classic' style pinot noir. In this 2011 vintage, the wine shows off its true Burgundy character. The wine is characterized by vibrant garnet color, upfront exotic aromas of pomegranate, sour cherry, cranberry, and cardamom combine with a delicate note of mint and white pepper. It has a nice core of fruit flavors with a bit of orange peel at the end. Amazingly complex and gets better and better the longer it stays in your glass.
Charles & Charles Chardonnay 2015A firm, juicy, refreshing Chardonnay that picks up great power and depth in your glass. There are aromas of apple and pear with some tropical notes. Fresh and pure fruit on the palate with a streak of minerality and toasty vanilla. Sur lie aging gives the wine sweetness and softness. Power meets finesse here.
Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2014Colour: Bright crimson, deepening/darkening towards core. Nose: Much to intrigue here - a flash of baker's sourdough rises above; beneath - crackling/crispy duck skin and basting juices. Old-Garden fruits rhubarb/quince/fig to the fore... New-Kitchen savouries, sesame oil/pinenut follow. Pencil shavings oak, stylishly legitimised by a classic graphite/ironstone-metal blackness. Smokey, gunflint, shale descriptors abound - a reminder that there's more to Bin 389 than just crushed grapes! Palate: A tasting-slurry of red-currant/eggplant/black olive induce a darker/savoury flavour pool. A generous mid-palate embalmed by integrated plush and ripe tannins. The ferrics lurk - an iron-laden meatiness intriguingly verging towards a knife-sharpening stone primed with olive oil. What!?! Varietal credibility redeemed by crème de cassis and blueberry fruits ... but only just!
