Named after a royal burial ground in Turkey, the 2021 Hierothesion is a new wine from Kinsman based on multiple AVAs and a mix from the single vineyards. It's one heck of a wine, offering beautiful cassis and darker currant fruits as well as graphite, leafy tobacco, Asian spices, and floral notes. With medium to full-bodied richness, a ripe, seamless, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish, it's perfect for drinking over the coming 15+ years.

The 2021 Hierothesion Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc in the blend, is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of blackberry pie, juicy plums, and blueberry compote jump from the glass, followed by hints of Indian spices, dusty soil, and potpourri. The full-bodied palate is plush and lively, with bags of spicy black fruits and a long mineral-laced finish. New this year, winemaker/owner Nigel Kinsman said, "We wanted a wine that people could open any time and feel good about, so we made the Hierothesian Cabernet blend from declassified barrels." A Hierothesian is a burial ground, and the label is an artist's rendering of one from Turkey.
