One of a series of single-parcel wines, this is tight, fruity Alvarinho has fine acidity and a creamy texture. It is still young and the tangy character of the wine needs to soften. Drink this beautiful wine from 2023.

The 2020 Parcelo do Roseiral is a single-plot Alvarinho from vines on granitic soil, aged for nine months in a 70/30 mixture of stainless steel and new French oak. It comes in at 13.6% alcohol. I wasn't all that impressed with Aveleda's new labels last time around, but this was my favorite. It too is better now. It continues the trend I'm seeing now of these labels performing better and better. The Convento was lovely. This might even be better. Sturdy and serious, this is strictly made for a food pairing. It has some upside potential in the cellar. It is not content to just be fruity and friendly. It will be interesting to see if this is more nuanced in a few years, a little more expressive. I think it will be.

Creamed pear and apricot fruit flavors are set on the broad palate of this light- to medium-bodied white, which is accented by hints of lime blossom, Meyer lemon peel and vanilla. A light tang of salinity and citrusy acidity provide balance. Alvarinho. Drink now. 500 cases made, 50 cases imported.
