RAREFIED - adjective pronounced: [ rair-uh-fahyd ] 1. extremely high or elevated; lofty; exalted: the rarefied atmosphere of a scholarly symposium. 2. belonging to, or appealing to an exclusive group; select; esoteric: rarefied tastes. A new wine for Myriad and only released in 1.5L magnum, format. The Myriad Rarefied Air Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a fantastic bouquet of crème de cassis, blueberries, sweet earth, violets, tobacco, and spring flowers. With a magical, full-bodied texture that carries lots of tannins and mid-palate depth, it just glides over the palate with no sensation of weight or heaviness, flawless balance, and a great finish. It's a big, rich wine, yet it shines just as much for its elegance.

From an undisclosed single vineyard, Myriad's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Rarefied Air is impressively dark-fruited, featuring plums, black cherries and blueberries, plus hints of dark chocolate. Impressively concentrated and complex, this full-bodied effort boasts a wonderfully plush texture, yet never seems heavy or overdone, from ebullient start to impressively long finish. Yes, it's potent stuff but wow!

Lastly, and bottled in magnum only (there are only seven barrels made), the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Rarefied Air is reminiscent of a great vintage of Château Mouton-Rothschild with its powerful black fruits as well as notes of smoked earth, tobacco, chocolate, and lead pencil shavings. Full-bodied, concentrated, and wonderfully structured, it's not for the instant gratification crowd and is going to demand 4-6 years of bottle age.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Rarefied Air was tasted as a barrel sample. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs considerable swirling to bring out notes of crushed blackberries, cassis, and Morello cherries, plus hints of black truffles, tilled earth, and crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate delivers energetic black fruits with red berry accents and a fine-grained texture, finishing with a provocative mineral lift.
