It is one of the most emblematic wines of the estate. I have been working this terroir since 2013, my first vintage. It is a terroir with a singular personality, totally the opposite of the cliché of a Pommard. This image of rustic and masculine wines is totally reversed by the elegance and finesse of Clos des Poutures. A light colour that I like to keep. My philosophy is to reveal the terroir and not to go against its personality. This disruptive side makes it one of my favourite wines.
The 2016 Pommard Clos des Poutures ler Cru has an attractive bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, briary and light sous-bois aromas, classic in style and very well focused. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly raw tannin, hints of tomato vine lacing the red fruit with a straightforward and conservative finish. Probably not a long-term Pommard. Evidence of some whole bunch addition. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 5 closure)
