Black and red fruit on the nose with cherry, bell pepper, and subtle hints of coffee from the barrel fully integrated. In the mouth, it is wide and exhibits good complexity and round tannins. It is an elegant and robust wine with a long finish.
Food Pairing: Pair with a juicy steak or pasta bolognese.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Owen's Vineyard comes from an old pergola vineyard. It fermented slowly for 40 to 50 days and matured in first and second use barrels for 12 months. It feels quite open and a little advanced. A second bottle was marginally better. The tannins are fine, and there's good balance and freshness. It makes me hesitate a bit. 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2017.

From the 2016 vintage, a year with a lot of rain and widespread ripeness issues, this is a difficult wine to get behind. The nose is saucy and green, while the palate feels soupy. Herbal, green flavors of tea and plum struggle to hold sway.
