A dark, smoky, charred nose is chocolaty and dense, with black-fruit notes but also a hint of chimney. A tight palate is pulling and tannic, while blackberry flavors come with notes of black coffee, chocolate and burnt toast. A narrow tannic finish suggests that this Reserva should improve over time; drink through 2030.

Smoky and tarry notes frame a core of blackberry, licorice and mineral in this firm red. Muscular tannins are well-integrated, while balsamic acidity adds a spicy accent. A bit austere, but shows concentration. Best from 2021 through 2031. 4,750 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.
