The 2017 Poggio alla Guardia is supple, forward and racy, all of which make this entry-level red a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Sweet red berry fruit, tobacco, cedar and wild flowers give the Poggio lovely aromatic top notes and a lifted feel that is quite appealing.

Made with Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this has aromas of dark fruit, scorched soil and cooking spice. The forward palate evokes dried black cherry, star anise and vanilla alongside smooth tannins.

A dense, brooding red, this features plenty of blackberry, plum and wild herb flavors, with a layer of mouthpuckering tannins. Needs food now, or a few years on the bottle to soften. Sangioveto, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2020 through 2024. 8,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.
