The 2020 Chardonnay Zuccardi Fosil comes from San Pablo, Uco Valley and was harvested across four sectors, each with a different soil type, before being mostly fermented in concrete, except for one-third that went into 500- I iter used barrels. Light yellow with green flecks in the glass. The complex, detailed nose presents green apple, hazelnut, herbs, lees, lemon zest, ginger and a whiff of gunpowder. In the mouth the flavors are intense with a creamy texture that stays nimble thanks to the good malic acidity. The compact, saline palate throws up an entirely new flavor profile at the end that lingers at length, but once it's gone, all that's left is a dry sensation. Not as compact as other vintages; the year has brought greater clarity to the aromas and flavors.

The 2020 Fósil San Pablo was produced with Chardonnay from San Pablo, a cooler region where they feel the grape behaves very well, but the variety is not mentioned on the label, where they want to show the Estancia San Pablo landscape, five different soils. The clusters were pressed and the juice fermented in concrete and 30% in 500-liter oak barrels with an élevage in those same containers. The whites don't go through malolactic. This has 13.5% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity but shows more generous with more volume and riper aromas, reflecting a warmer vintage. In this warmer year, they harvested much earlier, two weeks earlier than the 2019 that I tasted next to it. The 2020 is a little darker and more generous.

James Suckling 94 points - This is very fresh and vivid with bright acidity and tangy, fresh fruit including lemon, grapefruit and sliced apple. Medium body, lots of stone and lemon rind on the finish.
