James Suckling 95 points - Wow. Wonderful pureness of fruit here with blueberry, slate and stone aromas and flavors. Full body. Tight tannins and a layered finish. Shows focus and richness. Drink after 2022, but already very impressive.

Vinous 93 points - The 2015 Conero Riserva Campo San Giorgio, Umani Ronchi’s top-level red from the Marche, dazzles the senses with a bouquet that mixes ripe cherries, blueberries, violet pastille, confectioner’s spice and a hint of sage. It saturates the palate with notable richness, giving way to mineral-infused dark fruits, enlivened by brilliant acidity, as fine-grained tannins slowly add tension and poise. The finish is long and structured, still giving due to the warmth of the vintage, yet with many years to go before realizing its true potential. That said, not checking in on this gorgeous Conero Riserva today would be a shame. It also pays to note that, in a region where small French oak is often overused, the execution of elevage is perfectly done: one year in barrique, followed by another in large neutral wood.

Delicate aromatic notes of sandalwood and violet waft from this harmonious, medium-bodied red, with light tannins providing plush definition for the flavors of crushed black cherry, accented by minerally loam and iron hints. Fresh and elegant. Drink now through 2025.
