Rated 95 by Wine Advocate Made up of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot (bottled in June 2018), the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Padrone opens with youthful, very primary notes of red and black currants, crushed plums and black raspberries with touches of cinnamon stick, Marmite toast, pencil shavings, lavender and black soil. Medium-bodied with great vibrancy and freshness plus a fine-grained frame of tannins supporting the red and black fruits, it finishes with a lovely herbal lift. 1,115 cases made.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Padrone comes across as more finessed and nuanced than the Estate. Medium in body and nicely poised, with plenty of structural underpinning, the 2016 has a lot to recommend it. This tightly wound yet polished Cabernet appears to have a very bright future.
