Ruby, tending towards garnet with age. Penetrating, ample, and very complex, with echoes of wild berry fruit. Dry, warm, solid, harmonious, combining delicacy and austerity, and persistent. Excellent with roasts and spit-roasted meats, grilled meats, game, braised meats, and aged cheeses.

Moderately saturated red-ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries, violet and peppery spices. Sappy, penetrating red/blue fruit flavors pick up spiciness and flintiness with aeration. Finishes very long, with mounting polished tannins and outstanding persistence.

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a terrific wine that feels very connected to its territory, both stylistically and in terms of its personalty. This is a mid-weight effort with a streamlined mouthfeel that glides over the palate with polished gleam. The bouquet is bright and buoyant with dried cherry aromas followed by balsam herb, dried mint, licorice and camphor smoke. The wine already shows an evolved bouquet, and although you could age it longer, it tastes great straight out of the gate.

This offers aromas of dark-skinned fruit, aromatic herb and a whiff of tobacco. On the linear, light-bodied palate, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity support sour cherry and espresso. Drink through 2023.

This red hits all the right marks, yet remains compact and not very expressive. Cherry, tobacco, earth and underbrush flavors are punctuated by dusty tannins on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2036. 2,000 cases made, 500 cases imported.
