Wine AdvocateThe new direction of the wines with more freshness, less oak and better drinkability is perfectly noticeable in the 2016 Elite Malbec. It fermented in concrete vats, and the élevage was in untoasted oak vats and a mix of new and used barriques for 12 months. But the oak feels really integrated, and the wine comes through. The palate is harmonious and elegant, nicely balanced, perhaps not terribly exciting but very peasant and drinkable.
Wine EnthusiastCrisp peppery red-fruit aromas are raw but fresh. Those words describe the palate as well, which is tight, fresh and raw in feel. Spicy, peppery plum and red-currant flavors show a touch of oak on an acidic finish.
