Conundrum Rosé 2016An alluring color of rose gold, this wine offers fresh scents of watermelon, strawberries and ripe peaches. Floral notes come through on the nose and carry over to the palate, along with flavors of berries, pomegranate and citrus. Both dry and round, layers of delicate and intense fruit flavors add a degree of character that can be elusive in a Rosé. The finish on this wine is light and bright, with a floral quality blending seamlessly with the lushness of its fruit.
Carteron Saint Tropez Le Bonheur Rosé 2016The hue is pale, light. It has clear salmon tints, typical of the Grenache grape variety, with a dash of soft pink, due to Syrah and Carignan. The nose is rich and fresh. There are notes of citrus fruits, especially grapefruits, then peach, then strawberry and blackcurrant, held by a touch of Carignan. The supple palate envelops you. This wine has a pleasant finish; it is well balanced and clean, with flavours of strawberry and jam of apricot. Made by winemaker Julien Braud, a top-notch Muscadet producer, this rosé is blend of 53% Gamay, 33% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Pineau d'Aunis. The fun packaging and reasonable price may lead you to believe this is all a gimmick--when a social media blitz erupted over the 2016 Forty Ounce, it became one of our biggest surprise hits of 2017--but don’t let the kitschy package fool you, this is a pretty serious rosé with a vibrant pink hue laced with gorgeous flavors of white cherries and strawberry with a hint of marjoram. The palate is full for a rosé and keeps on going. This is a terrific wine for just hanging out with friends and having a little nosh of roasted root vegetable and grilled meats. Julien uses organic and biodynamic practices in all of his winemaking and makes sure that all the fruit he uses for the “Forty” is farmed using sustainable practices.

Evel Douro Red 2014The Evel Tinto is produced from vines planted at Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta dos Aciprestes and Quinta de Cidrô, located in Pinhão, Vale do Tua and São João da Pesqueira. The first two locations benefit from a warm climate where wines are structured and elegante while Quinta de Cidrô benefits from a cool climate that permits the slow maturation of grapes and the production of aromatic wines with smooth tanins. The Evel Red is considered a typical Douro reference, with aromas of red fruit and green notes, typical for the region. It reveals itself very balanced, flavourful and round with a good structure and a fruity, persistent finish.
Casa Santos Lima Colossal Reserva Red 2014With an intense rubi colour, this wine presents itself with a great concentration in the nose. Extremely rich aroma with predominance of red ripe frutis and some floral notes, well integrated with notes of spices coming from the ageing in French and American aok barrels. In the mouth it shows great complexity with notes of plums and blackberries. The finish is rich and elegant.

Palate: Fresh acidity and good volume with citrus peel flavors and a long and persistent finish. Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel 2015For years, Bogle winemakers have sought out vines ranging in age from 60 to 80 years old for our Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly head- trained and dry farmed pioneers produce low yields of small, concentrated clusters of fruit, producing incredibly intense and flavorful wines. Greeted with sun-ripened raspberries and freshly ground white peppercorns on the nose, this Zinfandel is saturated with flavors of red berries and cranberries. Laced with a hint of savory herb in the background, the traditional tones of juniper lead to a full and ripe finish, while 12 months of aging in two year old barrels wraps the wine in spicy oak and a touch of vanilla wafer. Ataliva Malbec 2016An entry-level offering from Bodega Benegas, Ataliva is made with 100% Malbec grapes sourced from the Upper bank of the Mendoza River and from Tupungato's Uco Valley. Aged in French oak barrels (2nd and 3rd use) for about 6 months. At 14.5% Ataliva is a big wine and there is enough structure to balance the fruit and ripeness and subtle earthy elements lend a welcome savory aspect. Enjoy with grilled meat and BBQ.
Big Bill Red Blend 2016William ‘Big Bill’ Millar, boxing champ, decorated war hero, Springbok rugby captain and the first General Manager of KWV from 1924 to 1942, is the inspiration behind Big Bill, a new wine brand that offers unusual blend appeal that is larger than life, just as Big Bill was. This vibrant red blend shows upfront strawberry, cherry and mulberry aromas with hints of peppery spice and dark chocolate on the nose. The silky tannin structure is complimented by sweet fruit on the palate which contributes to the long, Iingering finish.
