As one of the oldest remaining self-rooted vineyards in our region, Bethany Heights has consistently produced some of the most distinctive and high-quality fruit in our repertoire of vineyards. Its lineage comes from the original Wadenswil clones brought from France, than to California, to our vineyards here at Stangeland in 1976 via Pinot pioneer Davit Lett, and finally this line to Bethany in 1992. We here at Stangeland feel the Wadenswil clone differs from the traditional Dijon and Pommard clones in that it benefits from Bordeaux-intended oak in its profile. The special privilege of a relationship with one of two coopers used at the renowned vintner Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, which is featured in the majority of the oaking, gives us the perfect Bordeaux specific barrel used in this 6-barrel blend.

- v93
Deep, bright-rimmed scarlet. Expressive aromas of red/blue fruit liqueur, exotic spices, vanilla and smoky minerals, with a sexy potpourri nuance building steadily with air. Offers cherry liqueur, boysenberry and rose pastille flavors that show excellent clarity and depth with no sign of excess weight. Polished tannins frame a very long spice- and floral-driven finish that delivers a suave blend of power and finesse. Aged in 60% new oak.
