A generous, evocative nose of cherries, fennel, orange peel and medicinal herbs sets the stage for a classic palate of cherries, fennel and sambuca flowers grounded in iron-rich soil and wet slate. Tannins that grab hold of the tongue and an unapologetic heat round out this structured, elegant Tuscan red.

The 2019 Valdisanti is a huge, opulent wine. Ripeness is pushed to the edge in this Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice, plum, lavender and copious new oak are all dialed up. There is plenty of textural intensity - that's obvious - but less in the way of varietal character, and that's a shame, as there is so much potential here.
