Attractive dark-fruited character here offering ripe blackcurrants, dark cherries and dark spices with bark and walnut undertones. Full-bodied, polished and chalky with tight-grained tannins and succulent dark berries underneath. Long and mineral finish. Better from 2025.

Very solid, with the core nicely packed with cassis, plum puree and cherry reduction notes that are inlaid with licorice snap and violet hints before ending with an element of singed apple wood. Drink now through 2034. 15,450 cases made.

Looking at the appellation 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, this ruby/purple-hued effort is based on 85% Cabernet Sauvignon along with tiny amounts of Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Sirah that spent 18 months in oak barrels. Cassis, vanilla oak, cedarwood, and lead pencil notes all define the aromatics, and despite the subtle cloying American oak vanilla character (why, oh why?), it's medium-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, and beautiful tannins. Drink bottles over the coming decade.
