Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
|Brand||Stag's Leap Wine Cellars|
Station Plaza Wine
A chewy red with blackberry, blackcurrant and dark-chocolate character. Full-bodied with polished tannins and a savory finish. Drink or hold.
Plum, mocha and turned earth highlight the palate of this robust, full-bodied and powerfully broad red wine, tense in firm tannin and a cradling of toasted oak. The acidity helps to balance its heft, leaving a note of lasting freshness on the spicy finish
Artemis is a solid, respectable expression of modern Napa Valley Cabernet (with 4% Merlot and 1% Malbec), made using both estate and purchased fruit. Black cherries, dark chocolate and roasted espresso aromas lead to an earthy palate, more terroir-driven than the ripe, modern nose suggests. It’s aged for 16 months in 40% new French barrels and a small amount of American oak.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis is a blend of 99.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and .5% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it springs forth with notes of black raspberries, redcurrant jelly and fresh blackberries, plus hints of dried mint, damp soil and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate gives up tons of juicy black and red berry flavors with great freshness and sturdy, grainy tannins, finishing earthy.
