Luca Malbec 2016
|Region||Argentina, Uco Valley|
Wine EnthusiastPure berry and cassis aromas are concentrated and show no holes. This Uco Valley Malbec feels pure, direct and linear, albeit with slightly scratchy tannins that should dissipate in due time. Blackberry and dry spice flavors finish full and grabby, with muscularity. Drink through 2028.
Wine SpectatorConcentrated boysenberry and Asian spice flavors are strapped together by fresh tannins and zesty acidity in this ripe, juicy style. Offers creamy hints, with dark chocolate and mocha notes on the well-structured finish. Drink now through 2025. 7,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported.
Wine AdvocateThe regular Malbec now shows the age of the vines on the label-Old Vine Malbec-even though they are the same vines that have always been used in the past. The 2016 Old Vine Malbec was produced with grapes from vines in different parts of the Valle de Uco, Gualtallary and La Consulta. This is also quite oaky with plenty of sweet spices and some creaminess.
