All the main activities connected with cultivation (pruning, tying down, leaf stripping, thinning out of bunches) are done manually. Harvesting too is performed by hand at different times for each plot and each type of vine species so as to guarantee the perfect degree of ripeness of the grapes. The wines are aged both in traditional Slavonian oak barrels and in small French oak casks kept in the picturesque terraced cellar cut into the hillside. The character of Cantalupo wines has been perfected over the years through continual research and innovation in tune with the company's culture, history and accumulated technical experience.

Fifty Shades of Grey Red SatinThis decadent blend has flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice. Red Satin is a blend of primarily Petite Sirah and Syrah, it was aged in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Catena Zapata Alta Malbec 2013Catena Alta Malbec is sourced from Lot 18 of the Angélica vineyard, located in Lunlunta (3018 ft elevation), Lot 4 from the La Pirámide vineyard, located in Agrelo (3117 ft elevation), Lot 2 from the La Consulta vineyard, located in La Consulta (3593 ft elevation), and Lots 3 & 9 from the Adrianna vineyard, located in Gualtallary (4757 ft elevations). This wine undergoes a demanding selection process in both the vineyard and the winery.
Justin Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Appearance: Dark ruby purple core lightening to medium intensity at the rim with moderate staining on the glass. Aroma: Aromatic black fruit of cherry and blackcurrant jam, baking spice, dried leaf and sweet tobacco. Palate: Full bodied with bright black cherry, blackcurrant and berry fruit with an underpinning of oak barrel accents on entry. The mid palate shows continued fruit with savory herbal notes, mint and a hint of violet. The finish is clean, long and layered with lingering dark fruit surrounded by soft chewy tannins balanced by crisp acidity and subtle floral notes. Pairings: The 2014 JUSTIN Cabernet Sauvignon is a versatile red wine that pairs well with most red wine friendly dishes and a little more. As good with pasta and burgers as it is with beef wellington or entrecote bordelaise, this is a wine with broad pairing possibilities for both dishes and palates.

Moulin d'Issan Bordeaux Supérieur 2014From August 21st until the end of November, summer conditions are setting in for long with continuous heat and dry weather. The Indian summer has allowed a rigorous selection plot by plot, offering to our 2 grape varieties progressive and optimal ripeness. The harvested berries present a beautiful fruit crunchy and generous, with some delicate and refined tannins. Thanks to the perfect conditions during the month of June, we have obtained a homogeneous flowering around June 25th, without gaps between the Merlot and the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fog Theory Pinot Noir 2014The 2014 Fog Theory is exceptionally dark and rich. Aromas of ripe raspberry and dark berry fill the glass with hints of vanilla. The 20% new oak allows the grape tannin to shine, while still contributing barrel spices to the palate. A full, lush mouthfeel is accented by soft notes of nutmeg and pepper on the finish.
Beaulieu Vineyard Rarity Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 1.5L2013 Rarity comes from our finest barrel-lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, selected from our oldest vines in predominantly BV Ranches No. 1 and 2. Georges de Latour originally planted these vineyards in the early 1900s. Rarity has only been produced in exceptional vintages ('68, '73, '79, '90). TASTING NOTES The Beaulieu Vineyard 2013 Rarity delivers massive power and weight, yet with uncommon elegance and suppleness. The wine’s profuse aromas of blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate and violet are mirrored by the opulent flavors that explode on the palate. Seamlessly integrated vanilla and oak spice nuances, from barrel fermentation and aging in entirely new barrels, add even more complexity to the layered Cabernet Sauvignon expression. “Rutherford Dust” tannins contribute texture, while bright acidity keeps its fresh, purity of focus. This is a wine that will age for decades. VINTAGE While Napa Valley winemakers heralded the 2012 vintage as outstanding, the 2013 vintage was—magnificent! The unusually warm, dry winter promoted early budbreak, which gave the vines an early start to the 2013 growing season. Ideal conditions prevailed through flowering, fruit set and ripening, with the low rainfall keeping the grapes desirably small. While harvest was early, the bloom-to-harvest span was not compressed; thus, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes benefited from adequate hangtime to develop exceptionally ripe, balanced flavors. VINEYARD The 2013 Rarity was chosen from the “best of the best” barrel-lots of wine from the outstanding vintage. Through a highly selective process, we narrowed the components for the Rarity blend to represent predominantly old vines in four vineyards: BV Ranch No. 1 and No. 2; our Hewitt Estate Vineyard; and a neighboring small vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. The vines, with the majority planted in the 1980s, were grafted to clones that yield small, intensely flavored grapes. All four vineyards are deeply rooted in well-draining, alluvial fan soils on the western bench-lands of Napa Valley’s Rutherford AVA. WINEMAKING At the winery, we hand sorted first the clusters and then the destemmed grapes to retain only the highest quality fruit. For early integration of oak character and to enhance the supple mouthfeel, 56 percent of the Rarity components were barrel-fermented, with the balance in stainless steel and wood tanks. Following 30 to 35-days of maceration (skin contact) and gentle pressing in a basket press, the wine was returned to barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging. To balance he tremendous intensity of dark fruit character, we chose to age this wine in 100 percent new barrels. Michel Rolland, who has consulted for Beaulieu Vineyard for nearly a decade, blended the wine components with Winemaker Jeffrey Stambor in January 2015, thus giving the wine t ime to marry before it was bottled in August 2015. Ten percent Petit Verdot from BV Ranch #1 added even more structure and complexity to the Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
Venge Scout's Honor 2015This vintage has a gorgeous, concentrated assemblage of aromas of stone fruits, crushed blue herbs, violets, cherry, anise, and a touch of honeysuckle. On the palate is pure richness from the old-vine Zinfandel with loads of super-ripe blackberry, pepper spice, and an enveloping masculinity of char and tannins from the Syrah, Charbono and Petite Sirah. A seamless balance and mouth coating deliciousness are found throughout the palate, with an extra long finish with a touch of barrel tannin at the end. 2015 Scout's Honor is certainly a generous mouthful of red wine that we recommend be opened and enjoyed immediately upon release. Cellared correctly it will age for 5 to 8 years.

Cherry Pie Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir 2013A very showy wine - bright red in color. A swirl grips the glass and leaving a magenta stain. On the nose, fruit pours out of the glass immediately. Cherry liqeur, raspberry and camphor - there's even little French Toast in the background. Bright acidity wraps the red fruits and black cherry on the palate. The tannins are youthful. A purists Pinot Noir.

Layer Cake Pinot Noir 2015Expressive notes of raspberry, pomegranate, and cranberry, are supported by dried tea leaf and tobacco on the nose. The palate is layered texturally and has rich, pronounced blackberries and ripe plum. Soft, fine-grained tannins and smoky, dark chocolate linger through the finish.
Merry Edwards Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2015Our style of Sauvignon Blanc is designed to bring out the best in this regal varietal. It's highly floral, effusing scents of hibiscus, honeysuckle, jasmine and orange blossom. Notes of muskmelon, mango, papaya and guava widen the aroma, along with accents of white peach, nectarine and Meyer lemon. Hints of minerality, crème brûlée and toasted hazelnuts add even more sophistication. In the mouth, this wine is lush with good viscosity. This richness is balanced by sweet Ruby Red grapefruit, tangerine zest and lively acidity throughout. Our Sauvignon Blanc ages along with the best of those from Sancerre.
Binomio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2012Deep dense intense ruby red colour, with a purple viscous rim. Intense nose with ripe blackberry, wild strawberry and spices. Powerful and expansive on the palate, with ripe tannins and great balance. Round and fresh ending, long-lasting, with aromatic persistence. Food Pairing: Pecora alla Callara. Oven-baked or grilled meat. Matured cheese.
Behrens Family Winery Sainte Fumée Red Wine 2013Each wine is a low tech labor of love: crushed into one-ton T-bins, punched down by hand, gently transferred to barrel, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
