Fratelli Revello Barolo Vigna Giachini 1997
The stunning perfume (meat, sausage, and spice) of the dark plum/garnet-colored 1997 Barolo Vigna Giachini is reminiscent of a French charcuterie. Full-bodied, opulent, fat, and rich, with notes of sausage, herbs, pepper, spice box, soy, and new oak, this lush, creamy-textured offering can be drunk now and over the next 15 years.
Full deep red. Cool, youthful aromas of black cherry, minerals and camphor. Very dense and concentrated; chewy with extract. Lovely inner-mouth floral quality and freshness. Finishes very long, with firm, dusty tannins and terrific grip. This boasts excellent structure for the vintage. (ST)
Dark ruby, with a red edge. Strawberry aromas, with hints of lemon peel and flowers. Full-bodied, with bright berry and citrus character. Fresh finish. Little tight still. Give it some time.--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Best after 2009. 350 cases made.
