With a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Serilhan bursts from the glass with notes of ripe blackcurrants, boysenberries, black raspberries and cedar chest plus nuances of red roses, pencil lead and camphor. The medium-bodied palate shimmers with energy, featuring tons of crunchy black fruit and a finely grained texture, lifted by fantastic tension, finishing long and perfumed. Impressive!

The 2019 Sérilhan is perhaps not quite as exuberant as it was en primeur, but it has acquired greater nuance since I tasted it two years ago. Dried herbs, leather, tobacco, menthol, licorice, spice and menthol are all laced together. Imposing tannins need a few years to soften, but that should not be an issue in time. All the 2019 needs is a bit of patience. After a few hours, it really shines.

Expressive, with upfront lilac, cherry compote and plum pate de fruit notes. Loses some intensity through the finish though, with a hint of jamminess. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2025. 2,400 cases imported.
