The 2016 Château La Commanderie, the Pomerol estate owned by Andrew and Mélodie Kuk and Julien Bordas, has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, the new oak conspicuous at the moment and needing to assimilate during its élevage. The palate is medium-bodied with quite dense tannin, a touch of vanilla and dark chocolate layered over the fruit and as such, expresses more winemaking than terroir expression compared to its peers. Let's see how this performs after bottling, because I was expecting more.
