Chateau Clarisse Puisseguin Saint Emilion Vieilles Vignes 2015
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Puisseguin-St-Emilion|
They 2015 Clarisse Vieilles Vignes is the sixth vintage from the 3.5-hectare part of the vineyard and is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It has a ripe and powerful bouquet, a touch of warmth coming through, but not too over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, powerful and forceful, though kept in check by the acidity; it is a little muscular towards the lightly spiced finish with a long, baking-powder tinged finish. Impressive, although I find as much to enjoy in the regular bottling.
This sports a very solid yet expressive core of warm plum and blackberry preserve flavors, with light anise and singed vanilla notes checking in on the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2021. 1,250 cases made.
