Maysara Cyrus Momtazi Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Bright red. Smoke- and spice-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of pungent flowers and earth. Smooth and broad on the palate but not lacking for energy to the sweet red and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors. Finishes smooth and appealingly sweet, showing rounded tannins and persistent berry and floral character. 30% new oak.

The 2014 Pinot Noir Cyrus had been bottled a month before my visit. It has a rich and quite opulent bouquet with small red cherries, kirsch, forest floor and moss-like aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet red berry fruit, fig, a touch of raisin with brown spices developing towards the candied finish. Very fine, though I discerned more finesse attached to the 2013, at least at the moment.
