Located on the eastern side of the plateau of Pomerol between Lafleur and Pétrus (hence the name), La Fleur-Pétrus is ideally situated. Acquired by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, in 1994 a 10 acre block originally belonging to Château Le Gay and spreading over a wonderful hillock facing Château Lafleur was added, bringing the vineyard size to 35 acres. Planted on deep gravel that lends elegance and distinction to the wine, the vineyards are planted 80% to Merlot and 20% to Cabernet Franc, including the addition of old Cabernet Franc from the new vineyard parcel.

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 La Fleur Petrus has been an impressive Pomerol in recent showings. This one does nothing to alter that view. It has plenty of energy on the nose with great delineation: cranberry, pomegranate, singed leather and a touch of melted tar, firmly moving into secondary territory. The palate is medium-bodied with good structure, still quite tight but with a keen line of acidity and plenty of truffle-infused, black, dusky fruit on the finish. Great wine in an off-vintage. Tasted February 2017.

Berry and milk chocolate aromas follow through to a medium-to-full body, with pretty fruit and a medium finish. Silky and refined. Balanced and harmonious. Best after 2012. 3,165 cases made.
