Viña Cobos Cocodrilo Corte 2017
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo|
Fleshy and rich-tasting, with sanguine notes to the dark plum and red currant flavors, featuring hints of forest floor. Accents of hot stone linger on the ripe, spicy finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Drink now through 2023.
Bright red-ruby. Riper on the nose than the 2017 Felino Cabernet, offering scents of cassis, black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice and crushed herbs lifted by a violet topnote. A step up in sweetness and intensity as well but with no loss of energy as the Cabernet herbs energize the bitter chocolate and licorice flavors on the middle palate. I like the way the oak element adds sweetness without detracting from the wine's fruit. Finishes with dusty tannins and good length, a note of dark raspberry emerging with air. This successful blend may even better next year.
