Fig cake and steeped cherry fruit flavors are underscored by a subtle thread of toasty smoke in this medium-bodied red, with gutsy tannins. Accents of candied violet, sandalwood and forest floor linger on the fresh, aromatic finish. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Best from 2022 through 2030. 800 cases made, 100 cases imported.
Blue-flower, Mediterranean scrub and over-mature black-skinned-fruit aromas form the nose. The ripe palate is rather evolved, offering fleshy plum, spiced blue berry and a hint of cinnamon alongside dusty, drying tannins that leave a lean finish.
