Sparkman Ruckus Syrah 2014
|Region||United States, Washington, Red Mountain|
Muscle meets polish, with vivid black raspberry and bacon aromas and dense, deeply layered currant, licorice and espresso flavors that power toward big but refined tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2019 through 2023. 295 cases made.
Coming from Red Mountain and blend of blend of 94% Syrah and 6% Viognier, the 2014 Syrah Ruckus is a rock-solid effort loaded with smoked black fruits (plums, currants), licorice, chocolate and obvious minerality. Rich, nicely textured, and concentrated, with that Red Mountain structure showing on the finish, it's going to be at its best from 2019-2026.
The aromas aren't ready to reveal their charms initially, showing notes of berry, herb, olive, cinnamon and spice along with barrel accents. The palate brings sumptuous dark fruit flavors that lose their a touch on the finish.
