Aromatic with blackcurrant, ink, black licorice, iodine and oyster shell. Full-bodied with fine, chewy tannins and blue-fruit, currant-bush and rose-petal flavors. Very transparent. It goes on for minutes. Give this some time to soften, but already a genie in the bottle. Drink after 2027. - James Suckling

Gravelly Meadow is a 2ha estate vineyard on Diamond Mountain, today owned by the Rouzaud family of Maison Louis Roederer. Loads of ripe, fresh blackberry fruit, raspberry, lifted purple florals, vanilla and wet stone aromas. You can sense the power and depth of this wine immediately even though it remains featherweight on the satiny palate. The tannins are firm and boysenberry fruit is accented by cinnamon, graphite and dark chocolate. Showcases the upfront drinkability of the vintage but has the structure for long-term ageing. --JC, Decanter

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravelly Meadow features scents of mocha and tree-bark-like oak, nicely highlighting bold cassis and blackberry fruit notes. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it finishes long, with softly dusty tannins that linger elegantly. - JC, Wine Advocate

Richly concentrated yet elegant in style, this wine is brimming in dense layers of baked plum, mocha and leather. The tannins are sinewy and supportive, with great structure and power.

Pretty sage and sassafras aromas lead off, followed by a core of gently mulled blackberry and bitter plum flavors. Edgy grip rides underneath on the finish, with black tea and singed alder accents trailing. Shows a smoldering intensity. Best from 2022 through 2038. 711 cases made.
