Domaine du Chateau de Meursault Clos des Epenots 2016
|Region||France, Burgundy, Pommard|
|Brand||Domaine du Chateau de Meursault|
The 2016 Pommard Clos des Epenots 1er Cru is a very pretty, effusive wine. A burst of sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint, white pepper and cinnamon lends lovely aromatic brightness and lift to this mid-weight Pommard. Elegant and classy to the core, the 2016 is an absolute delight today, but it has plenty of potential as well. This restrained, understated Pommard is all class.
Slightly dark ruby/purple-colored, the 2016 Pommard Clos Des Epenots 1Er Cru offers a more backward, reticent bouquet of dark fruits, ground herbs, earth, and spice, with a terrific crushed rock and gunpowder-like minerality. Rich, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, and textured, it needs 2-4 years of bottle age and will keep for over a decade.
Rich, featuring cherry and spice flavors. The oak treatment adds an extra layer of tannins on the finish. Showy, but needs time to integrate. Best from 2022 through 2035.
