Located on a coastal ridge just five miles from the Pacific Ocean, the remote site experiences substantial diurnal temperature shifts yielding wines characterized by their tension, structure, and precision of fruit. Our second vintage shows deep ruby and lifted aromas of fresh violet, Bing cherry, and hint of sea salt. The texture is focused with silky tannins and well-defined flavors of blueberry, orange peel, savory thyme and Asian spices that are accompanied by an abundance of acidity that follows through the long finish.

"This is a glorious red with density and compressed character to the mouthfeel. Pure and very focused with crushed berries, orange peel and sandalwood. Edgeless. Exciting. Tight, yet so characterful and great. Drink or hold." (97 pts.)

"The 2018 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate is the most powerful and structured of the 2018 Pinots. Readers will want to cellar it for at least a few years, as the tannins are pretty imposing at this stage. A wine of tremendous persistence, the 2018 is dark and virile, with a phenomenally long finish laced with hints of savory herbs, lavender and graphite. The fruit starts to emerge with time in the glass, but the 2018 will be even better with further time in bottle." (96 pts.)

Another Sonoma Coast release, the 2017 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate saw a touch of stems as well as the standard 45-55% new barrels. Its ruby/purple hue gives way to notes of Caramelized black raspberries, candied cherries, crushed flowers, and exotic spices. Rich, powerful, medium to full-bodied, and nicely structured, it's a big, mouthfilling 2017 that does everything right.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate is pale to medium ruby-purple and scented of raspberry and strawberry preserves, crushed red cherries, Earl Grey tea leaves, tree bark and allspice with notes of licorice, dried herbs and rose petals. In the mouth, it has a medium to full weight and slowly building intensity of earth and spice-laced fruits, with a firm, grainy frame and seamless freshness, finishing long. Give this another year or two in bottle.

Ripe and intense, with broad-brushed flavors of dark plum, blackberry and cherry tart that are lathered in exotic spiciness. Mocha and dark chocolate details show on the plush, creamy finish. Drink now through 2024.
