Dense, glossy purple color. Great visual impact. The nose first picks up the spicy notes of cinnamon and cloves, leaving fruits such as currants the task of enhancing a complex bouquet exalted by oaky notes. The good tannic fabric is impressive. Balanced entry and acidic component balanced by a solid, but not aggressive, body. Lovely, long finish with pleasant, fresh notes. Pair with sautéed duck breast, roast kid or lamb. and matured cheeses.

The 2015 Girolamo, 100% Merlot, is a rich heady wine. Super-ripe black cherry, mocha, bittersweet chocolate, licorice, new leather and menthol all fill out its ample frame nicely. This is an especially pushed style, but it works nicely. I would give the tannins a bit of time to soften.

This Merlot opens has subdued aromas of cedar, tobacco and a whiff of black-skinned fruit. The dense palate evokes prune, toasted oak and dried sage alongside assertive, rather astringent tannins.
