The Alta Mora 2015 Etna Rosso Guardiola is a wine that I tasted and reviewed a few years back. It's nice to come back to check on its evolution. Guardiola opens to tarry black spice and concentrated fruit with overtones of plum and dried blackberry. Fruit is harvested from 150-year-old alberello vines, and that beautiful richness is surely a result of the hard work put out by these old souls. I've upped my score by one point since my last tasting thanks to the pretty evolution and complexity presented here. Some 5,000 bottles were produced.

A savory red, with hints of smoky bacon fat and spice accenting the cherry coulis, dried sage and rose hip flavors. Balanced, featuring creamy tannins on the well-spiced, fresh finish. Drink now through 2027. 450 cases made, 100 cases imported.

Lively bright red-ruby. Red and black fruit macerated in alcohol, flint, botanical herbs and a whiff of alcohol on the opulent nose. Then ripe and broad in the mouth too, with rich, dense flavors and a mouthcoating texture with similar aromas. Finishes long and savory. Strangely, this is riper and showier than the Feudo di Mezzo: given the characteristics of the wines typically made in these two Contradas, it's normally the other way around. (14% alcohol)
