The 2016 Scrio is a dense, sumptuous and richly textured wine. As it always is, Scrio is really a wine of Le Macchiole more than a varietally expression of Syrah. In the glass, the 2016 is creamy and expressive, with striking fruit density and impeccable balance. Bright floral notes perk up the red-toned fruits nicely. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable today. The 2016 saw 20 days on the skins, Malolactic fermentation was in steel, while aging took place in a mix of 500-600L barrels and 12HL casks..March/2020

The 2016 Scrio is a fruitier Syrah than the 2015, which was more about the pepper and the savory spice. The 2015 was broader, while this wine is more linear and classic. It boasts more depth and brings a lot of earthy tones, and it's generally a much more vertical wine than the 2015. This is a very precise, beautiful and detailed expression of Syrah that shows a very generous disposition overall. In fact, this wine harnesses the exuberant abundance of the grape and channels it with extreme elegance.

This inky red is packed with blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, juniper, iron and spice aromas and flavors. Firm and dense, this remains balanced and long. Needs time to resolve its tannins. Syrah. Best from 2023 through 2033.
