In the glass, floral notes of lilies and cassis blend with earth notes of cool graphite. The palate beckons with a subtle minerality that is felt among layers of dimension. A classic, cacao-dusted finish reveals this vintage’s erudite nature.

Located along Conn Creek on the eastern edge of Rutherford, Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III is a 300-acre ranch with 181 acres under land conservation. With plantings dating back to 1895, this historic land was once the site of Beaulieu Vineyards and has seen wines crafted by legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. The vineyard gently rises to an elevation of 500 feet, offering optimum sun exposure, while vineyard rows run east to west with lyre trained vines that sit in well-drained soil. Known for impeccable farming and a balanced crop year after year, this vineyard is owned and managed by Beckstoffer Vineyards.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is gracious, elegant and wonderfully expressive. Sweet dark cherry, spice, leather, tobacco, menthol and licorice open effortlessly in the glass. This is an especially refined Cabernet from a site that tends to show more brawn and rusticity. Impressive.

All varietal, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Amulet Beckstoffer Georges III has a perfumed, floral character as well as lots of blue fruits (cassis and blueberries) intermixed with lots of tobacco, damp earth, leafy herbs, and chocolate. With plenty of classic Cabernet herbal, bell pepper, and pyrazine nuances (I wouldn't call it green, but we're getting close), it's full-bodied, has a rounded mouthfeel, and enough tannins to warrant 2-4 years of bottle age. It should keep for 15-20 years.
