Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Cote de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Cote-d'Or. Meursault << Goutte d'Or >> is the first Premier Cru found when leaving the village in the direction of Puligny-Montrachet. The parcel of vines was given this name ('drop of gold') because of the quantity of flint in the soil. These flints have both the shape and colour of ‘drops of gold'. Entirely like the drops of wine which this land produces! The wine itself is all one would expect it to be with a powerful nose and rich palate. The wine preferred by Thomas Jefferson.
Tasting notes
Pale gold in colour with a very expressive nose of almonds, brioche and vanilla. Nice roundness in the mouth with mellow notes of almonds and citrus. Finesse and beautiful minerality in final.
Food pairing
Vol-au-Vent - rump of veal - freshwater pike - morels - cheese

A very succulent, mouth-filling Meursault that flows so gracefully over the medium- to full-bodied palate. Wonderful aromas of honeysuckle and ripe stone fruit. This is all underlined by a vein of very fine tannins that barely breaks the smooth surface of this beauty. Soft and silky finish. Drink or hold.

There's a lush feel to this white's texture, offset by lively acidity, evoking flavors of peach, lemon and baking spices. The vibrant structure emerges on the butter- and vanilla-tinged finish. Drink now through 2029. 400 cases made, 100 cases imported.
