Louis Latour Meursault Goutte d'Or 2018
|Region||France, Burgundy, Meursault|
Pale gold in colour with a very expressive nose of almonds, brioche and
vanilla. Nice roundness in the mouth with mellow notes of almonds and citrus. Finesse and
beautiful minerality in final.
Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Cote de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Cote-d'Or. Meursault << Goutte d'Or >> is the first Premier Cru found when leaving the village in the direction of Puligny-Montrachet. The parcel of vines was given this name ('drop of gold') because of the quantity of flint in the soil. These flints have both the shape and colour of ‘drops of gold'. Entirely like the drops of wine which this land produces! The wine itself is all one would expect it to be with a powerful nose and rich palate. The wine prefered by Thomas Jefferson.
Vol-au-Vent - rump of veal - freshwater pike - morels - cheese
Complex and deep, this white features honey, butterscotch, vanilla and toast accents framing the core of lemon and peach fruit. Focused and balanced, with a precision finish. Drink now through 2025. 461 cases made, 150 cases imported.
The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or offers up notes of pear, white flowers, crisp green apple and almond paste. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and open-knit, it's giving and accessible, concluding with a chalky finish.
