TASTING NOTES:
This classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon starts with aromas of black currant, dried thyme and cedar. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry and strawberry coulis followed by fine tannins and an elegant finish.
WINEMAKER NOTES:
The vineyards for our 2016 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in the eastern edge of the Oakville AVA, near the Vaca Mountains. Oakville is known for moderate climate that encourages smooth, well-balanced wines of finesse.
The 2016 vintage began with very little rain, bud break occurred between the end of February and early March. With warm and dry spring and early summer, the vines develop healthy canopies and fruit set was balanced. The growing season was lengthened due to cool summer. September had a few heat spikes to push fruit to optimal sugar levels. The 2016 vintage was very balanced and ideal for producing wines with excellent flavor and resolved tannins.

Notes of ripe black and blue fruit, violets and baking spices. Some chocolate, too. Full-bodied and dry with succulent fruit and firm tannins. Ripe, yet fresh and juicy. Soft and mellow with a fruity finish. Try in 2022.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Release is a tasty, easygoing Cabernet Sauvignon. Crème de cassis, lavender, spice and menthol are all pushed forward. This charming, mid-weight Cabernet is best enjoyed over the next handful of years.

Black Stallion's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Release features a complex nose of cassis and dark chocolate, plus hints of raspberry, cedar and vanilla. The wine is medium to full-bodied on the palate and nicely velvety without being overly soft, but the flavors just fall away a bit quickly on the finish. Still, it's a reasonable value in the Napa scheme of things.
