We are pleased to announce the release from Bordeaux of MONDOT 2018, the second wine of Chateau Troplong Mondot (1st Classified Growth B in Saint-Emilion).
As you may know, under the supervision of Aymeric de Gironde (previously from Cos d’Estournel), Troplong Mondot has dramatically changed the style of its wines bringing more finesse, precision, freshness while keeping the aromatic intensity since vintage 2017.
As Jeb Dunnuck puts it: "“It shows the new style of this estate beautifully and offers remarkable purity”
As they consider it themselves, 2018 is their first “real baby”! And this is more than a second wine, this is some serious wine, that they are (I quote) "super proud of”.
Based on a single grape variety, Merlot grown solely on limestone soils, the wine offers a very silky texture on the palate and some rather complex spicy notes.
Ratings are pretty consistent and quite representative of the wine’s potential, in particular Jeb Dunnuck’s tasting notes.

The second wine of Troplong Mondot, the 2018 Troplong Mondot Mondot come mostly from designated parcels and is 100% Merlot. It shows the new style of this estate beautifully and offers remarkable purity in its black raspberry and cassis fruits as well as complex notes of white flowers, violets, and spice. Medium-bodied, silky, and beautifully balanced, it has a terrific floral quality as well as ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and an attractive, chalky minerality on the finish." 92-94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck

A really sexy second wine from Troplong with black cherries and stone. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and an attractive finish.
