Spicy berry aromas are accented by black tea and leafy scents that create an ideal Carmenère nose. A tightly concentrated palate offers mixed berry flavors touched up by the right level of oak and spice. A steady finish brings juicy acidity and toasty notes.

The 2018 1865 Selected Vineyards Carmenere comes their vineyards in Pencahue in Maule, where the soils are alluvial. It has ripe fruit, an herbal and spicy twist, marked flavors and a dry, faintly bitter finish. 480,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2019.

Open-textured, featuring spiced cherry, plum and raspberry flavors, flanked by notes of forest floor and dried mint. Hints of anise show on the finish. Drink now. 18,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
