Oddero Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2015
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
Wine AdvocateThis is the family's historic vineyard cru, located in Castiglione Falletto at the border with Monforte d'Alba, and the Odderos have been making wine from this site since 1982. This is a thin little snake of vineyard land that shows unique and different characteristics in its wines. In the 2015 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione, those start with a strong mineral, almost salty element you taste right at the get-go. This wine is robust and tight in the mouth and should relax over the next two or three years. It's another wonderful effort from Oddero.
Wine SpectatorThis shows some heft, featuring macerated cherry, plum, earth and menthol flavors, wrapped in a grip of beefy tannins. Everything is in the right place, with an essence of sweet fruit on the long finish. Best from 2023 through 2045. 220 cases made.
