The 2021 Al Passo is a very beautiful and expressive wine. Dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, licorice and incense lend notable aromatic nuance. This Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend has a ton to offer. Bright acids pull it all together in style.

An intense red, evoking cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, mineral, tobacco and wild herb flavors. Silky and sappy, with fine-grained tannins lingering on the finish. Overall, this shows finesse. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2032. 11,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported.

A blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Tolaini 2021 Al Passo offers ripe fruit with overtones of blackberry and baked cherry. The wine remains slightly closed at this stage, perhaps with a hint of reduction that comes across with slightly metallic notes. I would therefore suggest giving it extra time in the glass to flesh out. This is a large release of 130,000 bottles.
