Ponzi Vineyards Pinot Noir 2008
|Region||United States, Oregon, Willamette Valley|
Wine AdvocateThe 2008 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley was sourced mainly from the Chehalem Mountain AVA. Darker in color, aromatically it leans toward the black fruit side of the spectrum with aromas of incense, violets, black cherry, and black raspberry. A bit more structured on the palate with a good layering of savory black fruits, this precision effort can be enjoyed now and over the next 8 years.
Wine SpectatorBright and tangy, with a juicy, tart feel to the wild cherry and currant fruit, picking up a delicate bitter note on the extensive finish. Drink now through 2016. 5,350 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastPonzi's mainstream Pinot Noir really brings the fruit in 2008, a wealth of blueberry and black raspberry flavors. From aging in 30% new French oak come streaks of clove and anise, with just a hint of moist loam. Tannins are light and ripe.
